The challenge architects are increasingly facing: Preserving historic buildings while giving them a modern twist. At the Grafenwirt, the main goal was to lighten up the traditional interior.
Since the Middle Ages, noblemen have rested at the Grafenwirt after hunting and recovered over a meal and a drink. To this day, the hosts have made pleasure and cosiness their motto.
The Grafenwirt's interior design skilfully combines various stylistic elements, expertly playing with fabrics, materials, shapes and colours to create a harmonious composition. The aim is not to follow current fashions too closely or to integrate too many contemporary details into this classic setting.
Textiles play a subtle role at the Grafenwirt. The fabrics are of high quality, soft to the touch and, thanks to their beautiful pile, a pleasure to stroke.
In recent years, quilted fabrics have become a favourite in interior design. At the Grafenwirt, small quilted diamond shapes give the fabric a cosy, three-dimensional look and feel.
The colours are traditional and reflect the hotel's surroundings: beige and brown are combined with mud and a medium green; patterns have been avoided in the newly designed dining room. People and carefully chosen table decorations add enough colour and variety to the ambience.
All of this is set against a backdrop of light wood, which is the central element of the interior design. The light colour also provides a contemporary lightness and a cosy feel.
The lighting is modern and striking. It's a real design statement, and quite unusual for a pub.
